Women Techmakers Meetup Lahore

Women Techmakers Meetup Lahore by Google is an initiative to encourage and empower women in technology and providing them with a platform to showcase, discuss and resource their ideas Women Techmakers first took place in 2012 with I/O by Megan Smith, president of Google then, is now lead by Natalie Villalobos, Head Global Programs and a team of Googlers keen and passionate about bringing, encouraging and empowering women in technology. Since then, different initiatives and programs including training session, product management, Google I/O, public speaking sessions and different workshops have been launched globally to motivate and support women technologists.An event of the likes which was organized by Business and Management Consultants, took place at the Lahore University of Management and Sciences on April 23rd, 2016 where various women technologists spoke and shed light on the importance and role of women techmakers in this day and age.

 

Uber Lahore Pakistan Launch

The transportation giant Uber, has finally launched itself in Lahore, Pakistan. Launch details were shared in a pre-launch session at Barcelos, Lahore. The details of launch and services were revealed by the international launcher of Uber of Middle East and Pakistan, Loic Amado and Pakistan representative for Uber, Amna.

Loic revealed that Uber will be launched in other mega cities including Karachi soon. But as of now, its main focus will be Lahore. Also, the services were going to be offered free of cost following the first week of launch.

The event was coordinated and organized by Business & Management Consultants who previously has managed events of various multinationals including Google, Facebook and Crossover as well.

The launch ceremony took place on the 17th of December, 2015 in Lahore, Pakistan where the country manager for Crossover Pakistan, Mr Atif Mumtaz highlighted the mission statement of Crossover, how it works and how it has so far changed the conventional approach of freelancing. He also mentioned that now it is going to operate and establish itself in Pakistan as well, how freelancers can earn good money for their skills unlike the traditional freelancing schemes. Crossover works in collaboration with companies and organizations looking for new hires. Crossover takes care of all the hiring process and provides the best suited candidate for the job. This also provides the candidate with their best shot where they can work from the comfort of their home.

Just like Google Hackfair and P@SHA ITC awards, this event also was organized and managed by BMC (Business & Management Consultants). BMC always manages to provide the best event organization experience. Likewise this event managed to attract quite an audience. The ambience was great, the management was flawless, the event went on very smoothly and everyone seemed content.

Google Hackfair took place in Pakistan for the first time ever where many aspiring technologists and developers came forward with many intriguing and smart ideas, products and Projects. These ranged from everyday life, agriculture, music, fashion and what not. It was situated in Arfa Karim Technology Park and was organized by Business & Management Consultants (BMC) and hosted mutually by Plan9 and Google Inc. This Google Hackfair Pakistan consisted of many different activities which included Product/Project/Idea Showcasing, Goodies, Seminars, Motivational Speeches.

A special note of appreciation goes to the organizers and hosts who managed to arrange and execute the whole event with such expertise and for making sure that everyone left happy.

Google Career Talk

Google Career Talk is an initiative by Google to answer all your educational question. You could think of this like a career counsellor who gives you advice about choosing a domain and career, the only difference being that it quicker and less expensive. An introductory session with Google’s Career Talk was organized at Lahore University of Management and Sciences coordinated by Sharjeel Qureshi who is a software engineer at Youtube, Google.

Android Student Clubs, Comsats

Android Developers Fundamentals is a course developed and offered by Google for teaching students about android and developing apps using android. The course is aimed for final year CS students but anyone interested can enrol themselves, given that they have had a hands-on training with java.The course start from as simple as developing a hello world program and goes up-to developing complete apps for users. This course has been included in the course work for final years students in many universities in various countries. A startup event took place in COMSATS Islamabad, which was organized by Business and Management Consultants and coordinated by one of the Google Student Ambassadors Muhammad Usman Siddiqui.
